The research paper “Design, Synthesis, and Structure-Activity RelationshipStudy of Pyrazolones as Potent Inhibitors of PancreaticLipase” published by Yang Yang, a master student in the research group and Zhang Jing of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine as co first authors was accepted by ChemMedChem. This article first reported the application of pyrazolone compounds in the prevention and treatment of obesity, and discovered the compound (5‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐2‐phenyl‐4‐(thiophen‐2‐ylmethyl)‐2,4‐dihydro‐3H‐pyrazol‐3‐one) has a significant inhibitory effect on pancreatic lipase (PL) (IC 50 = 0.30 μM). The new compound can be used as a lead compound to develop more effective and selective pyrazolone PL inhibitors, and has important value in the prevention and treatment of obesity. This work was completed under the guidance of Professor Wang Hong and Associate Professor Bao Xiaoze from the Marine Drug Group of Zhejiang University of Technology, and Associate Professor Zou Liwei and Dr. Guan Xiaoqing from the Center for System Pharmacokinetics of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
