Recently, the research article titled “Basicity-controlled [3+2] cyclization of 3-hydroxyquinolin-ones and β-chlorinated nitrostyrenes” authored by graduate students Wu Jiamin and Hu Fei from our research group has been accepted by the European Journal of Organic Chemistry. The paper reports a new scaffold constructed through the recombination of natural product ring system. By employing a basicity-controlled [3+2] cyclization reaction, dihydrofuran-quinolin-ones and furan-quinolin-ones derivatives were synthesized. Furthermore, the feasibility of asymmetric catalysis in this reaction was preliminarily explored. The research was conducted under the guidance of Bao Xiaoze.
