Recently, a research paper titled "Discovery of 2,5-disubstituted furan derivatives featuring a benzamide motif for overcoming P-glycoprotein mediated multidrug resistance in MCF-7/ADR cell" by Dr. Yang Zhikun from the Marine Drug Group was accepted by the European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, a Journal in the first quartile of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with the latest impact factor of 7.088. Using the classic scaffold assembling concept, the study designed a novel P-gp inhibitor III-8 which efficiently reversed multidrug resistance of breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, without significant toxic side effects, thus having great potential for clinical applications. Zhejiang University of Technology was the first author's unit, with Dr. Yang Zhikun, Dr. Cai Yue and Dr. Mao Shen as co-first authors, and Prof. Wang Hong from Zhejiang University of Technology, Dr. Li Yasheng from the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University (Anhui Provincial Laboratory for Bacterial Resistance Monitoring), and Prof. Cui Zining from South China Agricultural University as co-corresponding authors.
